Bryce Pacini attended Sutherlin schools K-12 and graduated in 2019. During his high school years, he participated in the yearbook, FFA, welding, woodshop classes, and the required core courses. He found being a teen was challenging -- he drove himself to school and often was late. It didn't take long for him to realize being responsible and preparing to be an adult was not quite as easy as he thought. After completing his school day, he worked at Dairy Queen, developing a positive work ethic and working with others as a team member. While his classes in high school were beneficial, he would have liked to have had the opportunity to take personal finance classes, which expanded on a curriculum that addressed more than learning how to complete a tax return and write checks. Bryce would have appreciated the opportunity to take entrepreneurial classes, learning the ins and outs of turning an idea into a successful business.
As a youngster, he wanted to be a firefighter and even took fire science classes during high school, but the welding classes he took with Wes Crawford had a special appeal and drew him to an interest in mechanics. He also credits his older brother with generating his interest in mechanics, as Bryce always worked on his brother's truck for mud races.
After graduation, Bryce left the state for Michigan to stay with an older brother for a few months and explore the occupation of becoming a millwright. Upon his return to Oregon, he immediately went to work for Les Schwab Tire Center in Sutherlin, where he worked for two years. He enjoyed working for a business that gave back to the community and earned customers' trust. While at Les Schwab, Shawn Smalley approached him with a job offer, and for the past two and a half years, Bryce has worked for Smalley MDS as a diesel technician. His day begins driving from his home in Canyonville to Sutherlin to start the job at 7 am. As a diesel technician, he generally works with transmissions and chassis on pickups and smaller trucks, making major or minor repairs such as replacing ball joints, tie ends, and clutches. Usually, his work is of an independent nature, but when the job calls for it, he also works as a team member. He enjoys this type of work as he is always learning something new.
Bryce has two children, an eight-month-old and a three-year-old, which keep him busy in his spare time; when not with his family, he likes to hunt and fish.
