I hope this email finds you well. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I want to provide you with the necessary information regarding school registration and fall sports at Sutherlin Middle School.
School Registration:
Registration for all students, both new and returning, will open on August 1. To register your child, please log into Parent Vue. Detailed directions can be found on our website. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the district office at 541-459-2888 or the middle school office at 541-459-2668 after August 8.

Fall Sports:
We will offer Volleyball for 7th and 8th graders and Football and Cross Country for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Sports physicals must be completed every two years and at the start of sports participation. Evergreen Family Medicine generously offers physicals on August 1 from 4 pm to 7 pm at our Sutherlin Evergreen Clinic location. If a student is uninsured, Evergreen will provide a physical free of charge. 6th-grade football players will practice and play with 7th-grade students, and the football coach or athletic director will cover some unique rules.
Fall Sports Practice: Students will begin practice on Wednesday, August 28. They must have completed physicals before participation in practice or games. Coaches will provide practice schedules, and games will be scheduled once school has begun.

School Lunches: School lunches and breakfasts are free to all students, but to maintain this status with the Federal food program, we must provide general income information for our student population. We need ALL families to fill out our income survey. It is confidential. https://www.familyincomesurvey.com/
Student Schedules: Student schedules will be posted on Student Vue and Parent Vue during the week of August 19-22. Please note that schedules are not final until the end of the second week of school, so changes may occur.
Teacher Meet and Greet:
We are excited to offer a teacher meet-and-greet on Thursday, August 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. This will be an excellent opportunity for you and your student to meet the teachers, review their schedules, and become familiar with Sutherlin Middle School.
Important Dates:
· First day of school for sixth graders: August 26, from 8 am to 3:12 pm (students may arrive no earlier than 7:30 am)
· All students attend: August 27
· No school on Friday, August 30, or Monday, September 2, for Labor Day weekend
School Schedule: Office hours are from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Besides special events, this school only supervises students between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm M-Th and 7:30 am -12:30 pm. on Fridays. Students should not arrive at school before 7:30 in the morning and should go home when the dismissal bell rings.
