We had a unique visitor at Sutherlin Middle School today. It was Houston, the specially trained labrador retriever. Houston patiently listened to stories read by our students and had lots of positive attention! Everyone was thrilled with the visit!
Sutherlin Middle School leadership students lined Central and Umatilla this morning to share Signs of Hope for students and families in the Sutherlin School District. Every student belongs, and every student matters.
Sutherlin School District uses our valuable Friday afternoons with teachers to plan, collaborate, and learn. It is an essential time for professional development. Yesterday, our East and West teachers gathered in the East Library to deepen our understanding of how children learn math and how best to utilize our iReady curriculum. Our middle, high, and online teachers gathered in the high school library to learn about supporting students with mental health issues. The fact that these teachers engaged in new learning at the end of an exhausting week shows their dedication and love for our students. Three Cheers for our Bulldog Staff!
